James David Wilbraham (b.1989)
Tattoo and Graphite Artist based in Leek, Staffordshire UK
James began his tattoo career back in 2014, following a lifelong passion with art. Throughout the following years, he has explored many styles within his work and eventually found his preferred style was in the form of Black & Grey photorealism.
James has always been drawn towards ancient stories of myth and legend, and enjoys the opportunity to bring a mythical essence to his pieces.
James’ passion within his art lies in finding beauty and meaning behind dark and classical subject matter.
He enjoys taking inspiration from many sources within the arts – whether it be comics, books, tv or film, video games, or ancient and medieval history. All of which can be repurposed and reimagined for the intended pieces.
black haus gallery first opened up their doors in 2017 with their first studio based in leek, staffordshire. In 2021 they then expanded the business to a larger premises in cheadle, staffordshire. this is where black haus gallery is based today.
In 2020, James began to explore a new path within his career and began working with graphite, a medium that he has not previously used to this scale and continues to work on such pieces.
James’ ideal subject matter in both tattooing and graphite drawings lays with medieval and Renaissance history and fantasy and he looks forward to exploring more of these subjects within his work.
